This bed is really solid. The construction is from all wood, no veneers or cheap construction. The finishing on it is average. For all solid wood, made in the good old USA, you can't beat this price. My sons age 2 and 5 love this bed. Its not as high as most beds so its easy to make up the top bunk and its not too high off the floor for the 2 year old. I love this bed.

I use this for my 3 year old and 8 year old and my 3 year old can't sit up in bed (then again, he's the size of a 6 year old) and my 8 year old said he was scared to be on top but he doesn't fit the bottom bunk because it's too short to sit up in. The quality is great and it's very sturdy, my 3 year old loves to climb it and we love the bookcases for all our books!

The bed is very solid. The setup documentation could use some clarification (e.g., you need to drill some screw pilot holes for certain parts of the assembly).
The bed had been freshly stained and finished. We assembled the bed, but as yet have not allowed our kids to sleep in the same room - due to the curing of the finish (fumes). Don't purchase during cold climate season unless you have room in the garage to let it "gas-off" (cure).

I purchased the wagon wheel bunk beds with the storage drawers for in my children's room. When we goth them and began putting them together we noticed the ease of the assembly along with how strong & sturdy the wood was. My children ages 5 & 8 absolutely love them!!!
