I ordered this bed for my daughters 9th birthday. [...] After opening what was left of the box, the peices at first looked awful. After a 2 hours of putting it together myself, I was surprised at how pretty the bed was. The tools provided weren't the best but did the job. When you put a boxspring and mattress, the bed sets really high, but my daughter likes how high it is. I put up curtains on the canopy and the bedding my daughter picked out. It was the perfect finish to her "Big" girl room. I had never ordered from Hayneedle before but I am glad I did. I will definately come back when I redo my other two daughters' rooms.

Q1: Does the canopy portion have to be assembled or can the bed stand alone?
A: Our Supplier has provided the following information : If the Parisian Canopy Bed is assembled without the canopy portion, the bed may experience less stability and more 'racking' or torsion as a result of the lack of additional support. The posts would likely vibrate more, which could become unsettling. Powell Cannot warranty any product which is not assembled according to the accompanying instruction sheet.
