The sides and back are solid slats of wood carved in a cottage-style beadboard design. Rounded wood finials finish off each square post. As practical as it is beautiful, this daybed comes with an optional roll-out trundle drawer that can be used for extra storage or for sleepover space when you put up to an 8-inch-thick mattress inside. This daybed uses a standard twin-size mattress. The included wooden slat support system is 15 inches from the floor. Assembly required. Ships via common carrier.

I was thrilled with how quickly it arrived, how well it was packed, how easy it was to assemble. It looks great and is solid as a rock - good news for a family with a two-year-old sleeping in it. It went together in about 20 minutes!
I wasn't thinking about it when I purchased the mattresses, but the trundle mattress is a little too think to make it easy to roll the trundle in and out, so we put small blocks under the main bed to boost it up a bit. It isn't ideal, but makes day to day use easier (we use the top bed like a couch for playtime and pull the trundle out for sleeping so that the room looks a little neater). You can see the gap in the picture, but it isn't something worth worrying about in a toddler's room!

We would be very happy with the bed if it had been received by us in better condition. The paint job was sub-par, and there were numerous blemishes on the wood that were not due to shipping. The bed was easy to put together and looks good in the room. We put it in our office as a reading nook, and to use if our guest room is occupied. I would recommend it, but with qualifiers.

Ordered this daybed on a Saturday evening and received it on Wednesday afternoon. It was in three boxes, each one with the pieces to the daybed wrapped and cushioned. There wasn't one scratch or flaw in any of the pieces and the bed is as sturdy as it is beautiful. So pleased with this purchase and it matches my other bedroom furniture perfectly.
