The top rail of the footboard starts three inches wide at the edges and expands to seven inches in the middle, creating a curved brushed-nickel metal grill underneath. this will be a guest bed. We still have to buy a mattress, but at least it is assembled. The company also sent us extra metal rails, which we don't need and don't know why they too were sent. Now we have to figure out what to do with the extra rails: they're big metal objects. I plan to call the company to offer them back to them.

I've had this about 2 mos and have been very happy with this product. The headboard looks better live than in the picture. The wood is rubberwood and is is very durable. The headboard wasn't hard to assemble but we did have to extend it to our existing frame by putting 1/2 in rubber risers under the headboard feet. The headboard could be wobbly if not supported against a wall but many headboards fall into this category.
The design is versatile as it can go either traditional or contemporary.

I purchased this headboard for my Full XL bed. It looks really nice. The wood is a beautiful black too.
I haven't purchased a headboard before (so I'm not an expert), but when I sit back to read a book in my bed, the headboard does bend back and touch the wall behind it sometimes.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I ordered this for a guest room, but honeslty might move it into the Master bedroom. It is a beautiful design and VERY sturdy. A couple of the pre-drilled holes were slightly off, but my husband easily adjusted the frame with the enclosed wrench and then they matched up great. I ordered the footboard with my set and I'm glad I did...it is very chic!
