My almost-five year old loves her new "big girl" bed. The slide is a little close to the wall because her room is not large, but it's not long enough for her to get any real speed. She loves climbing the ladder to get into her new big girl bed! I realize this is not recommended for children under six--no loft/bunk bed is--but the design of this bed makes it HIGHLY unlikely that a child could fall from it.
I was not home when my husband assembled it, and he had some difficulties. Whether or not that was due to him not having great building skills or the product itself is hard for me to say. He ended up calling relatives for help.
The pink tent fabric panels did not arrive with my order. I called last week and was told follow-up would arrive by e-mail, and it never did. When I sent an e-mail yesterday, I was told they had already shipped and will be here today. I was very pleased--even though I did not get the initial follow-up, the rep who took my call followed through and shipped it.
I agree with other reviewers--the free mattress is too short for the bed. That is very puzzling. Why ship out a free mattress that is eventually going to end up in a landfill, since it's not a true twin? We're keeping it for now but will replace it with a much better quality mattress, both in terms of comfort and fit, in the near future.
All in all we are very pleased with our purchase. I was not familiar with Hayneedle before finding the bed on a Google search and will probably purchase from them again.

This is the cutest bed! Am happy with the quality of the wood and construction. Assembly is not bad but I would recommend an electric screw driver (ours was dead). Would definitely recommend this for a 3 yr old.

The bed itself is great. It is real hardwood and went together easily. It is very sturdy and looks very nice. My daughter loves it! The slide and the curtains that make the playhouse were a little nicer than I expected so that was a pleasant surprise. It arrived with a good size ding in one of the bed posts. I have not addressed that with customer service yet. The only Con is the free mattress. I expected it would be cheap as it is free, however I did not expect what I got. It was indeed cheap but it also didn't fit the bed. There were huge gaps on both ends of the bed that my daughter could have slipped through. We couldn't use it at all. I ended up taking a twin mattress from my guest room and putting it on her bed as it was not safe. All in all, it is a good buy. Well worth what I paid for it.
Service and delivery comments:
It was delivered a little late (3 days late) and there was some slight damage to the bed post. There was no damage to the packaging so either it was damaged prior to shipping or it was repackaged.

This is a very cute bed, my three year old LOVED it, as did my five year old nephew. [...] I love the bed, I may buy a higher quality curtain for the fort underneath, it's not the highest quality but you can't beat the price for this product and considering I'm sure a slide bed will only get use for a couple years, this one is the way to go.
