We got this to last our daughters through their teen years. Having used it for two weeks, I am sure it will. The beds are very sturdy, even for children nearing adult size. The drawers in both the desk and chest ends are of good quality and slide smoothly. The shelves are deep and roomy. The only con is that the lower bed is very low -- only inches from the ground, but my daughter became accustomed to it easily enough. Love how easily the lower bed rolls out, to make vacuuming under it possible. The ladder is pre-assembled and very sturdy. Assembly of everything else took two adults less than 2 hours, from unpacking to clean-up.

After reading these reviews, I purchased this bed expecting a sturdy product that would last my daughter through her teen years. After getting and assembling it, I'll be surprised if it lasts for five. My husband and I assembled it in four hours. The directions were not great; right off the bat we had to spend 20 minutes studying the picture and parts before concluding that the picture was incorrect. Then we had problems with holes not lining up and screws and bolts being stripped as a result. At several points during assembly, we could hear a disturbing crunching (for lack of a better word) sound that the "wood" made when the bolts were being screwed in. The biggest problem was a result of one of the holes for the dowel being much too shallow--the dowel actually broke through the side panel of the desk as we were tightening a bolt. There were also several spots where the paint had chips in it.
Now that it is assembled, the short guard rail (next to the opening) seems shaky. I expect that after being used for a time, it will break off. Also, the drawers in the chest appear to be crooked.
I have only good things to say about Hayneedle (the distributor, not the company that makes the bed). When I called, the representative was very friendly and arranged for a new desk panel to be sent. Unfortunatly we will have to take half the bed apart again to replace it.
The only reason I gave this bed two stars is because it is cute. I would not buy it again. I would also probably not buy any products made by this company. For this price I would expect better quality and real wood.

Comments about NE Kids Schoolhouse Student Loft Bed - White:
My daughter has always wanted a bed system like this. I was hesitant about ordering online and not viewing the furniture before I bought it. I couldn't find what I was looking for at our local furniture stores, so I decided to just try this one. I am very glad I did. It was shipped in several different boxes and my husband thought it would take forever to put it together before he opened the boxes. He was pleasantly surprised when all the pieces were labeled and they were basically put together already. He only had to do the large parts. It took him maybe 2 hours or a little longer to put it together. It seems to be great quality! We are pleased.

Comments about NE Kids Schoolhouse Student Loft Bed - White:
My kids (4 years old boy and 6 years old girl) got tired of sleeping on a bunk bed and asked for different sleeping spaces. They share a room in a medium size NY apartment and I had to then find something that has a built-in desk and storage. This was it. We are using the upper and lower beds against two different walls.
So far I have only built (I am a divorced mom and I am not significantly strong or handy and it was very easy for me) a lower bed and it wowed my kids. It's beautiful, sturdy and makes the room look dressed up. I can't wait for the loft bed to be built too... will probably hire a handy man to do that.
