This is a GREAT transition bed.[...] It is inexpensive enough to be temporary but sturdy enough to go the distance. It is all wood (including the ladders, which was not clear in the photos or description) and all bolt/lag-nut construction, which means it can be assembled and broken down many times (i.e. hand-me-down) without losing structural integrity (unlike particle board furniture). It is very easy to assemble, about 1-2 hours even with my son hiding the screws and moving pieces throughout the process ("I help daddy build firetruck"). It is a low bed so they can get in themselves and do not fall far in the middle of the night. I do some woodworking/furniture making in my spare time and could not get the same end product (especially the paint job) for much less. Since this is not an heirloom piece, it was not worth my time to save $20-40. The best part is that my son loves firetrucks and was VERY excited about his new "Big boy bed." I would definitely recommend this product.

The final products are okay, but this is our 3rd KidKraft product that has arrived with incomplete instructions and incomplete assembly parts and/or damaged pieces. KidKraft promised to overnight the missing items. They didn't. Since they can't even put the pieces in a box in total, I should have known they wouldn't follow through. Nightmare company to deal with. We will never bother with them again.

The final products are okay, but this is our 3rd KidKraft product that has arrived with incomplete instructions and incomplete assembly parts and/or damaged pieces. KidKraft promised to overnight the missing items. They didn't. Since they can't even put the pieces in a box in total, I should have known they wouldn't follow through. Nightmare company to deal with. We will never bother with them again.
