The Bristol Daybed is traditional and sturdy. The Bristol uses a standard twin-size mattress. Ships via common carrier.
A trundle is an extra mattress frame stored beneath a daybed, which slides out to provide additional sleeping space when needed. Daybeds.com optional trundle packages include a metal, pop-up-style trundle. They can be left in the lowered position or elevated in the pop-up position to align with the primary daybed mattress. The pop-up feature allows the daybed to transform from a twin-size daybed into a king-size bed.

I was worried about how the finish would match other existing furniture in the room. The image accurately represents the finish and it's a near perfect match! The pop-up trundle fits nicely beneath and pops to exactly the right height. There is clearance for a mattress 9.25"-9.5" high on the pop-up trundle. This bed is used daily for my son and used with the pop-up trundle when guests come to stay. Assembled in less than an hour by one person.
