Rubberwood is often the most misunderstood species of wood in the furniture industry. The name itself invokes a variety of misconceptions to its features and its durability. Also known as "white teak" or Para wood in Thailand, is the common name for the timber of Hevea brasiliensis. It is also often referred to as Malaysian Oak because of its strength. Historically, the felled timber was used as firewood to fuel brick-making and tobacco-curing. Dramatic changes in world economy plus the occurrence of natural disasters in some parts of the world necessitated the need for alternative timbers.

Comments about Guidecraft Safari Animals Step-Up Stool:
In all was pleased with this stool. I assumed that the decorative features would be painted on, but was pleasantly surprised to find that they were raised embellishments. On the plus side of assembly, the hardware was packaged individually and labelled and there were a few extra pieces. However, the instructions left a lot to be desired, although from other reviews, I was somewhat prepared for this!! Follow the pictures, not the written directions!! The left side (F) and the step (G) were mislabelled, but easy enough to tell apart. Don't bother putting cam locks in all the pieces as indicated, because they fall out as soon as you pick up that piece; put them in as you go. And use a short screwdriver--some of these spots are a tight fit! Basically you are attaching all the pieces to one side and then attaching the remaining side. Four hands would be good at this point, as it's a juggling act to get this together by yourself, but doable!!! (Diagram 3 of 5 shows the step in place, but the directions have you attaching it in diagram 5 once everything else is together--not possible--with "bolt M" which doesn't exist!)Now, having vented about the usual inadequate assembly directions, I am pleased with the look of this product. From other reviews I've read, I expect it to last through several grandchildren.

Comments about Guidecraft Safari Animals Step-Up Stool:
This is a very cute stool. It has fun pictures to help teach my daughter animal names. Unfortunately the directions that were included were wrong. One of the parts was mislabeled in the directions (I think it labeled it as J instead of G) and then the assembly has you putting the two sides together before you put the lower step on but the lower step has holes and needs to go on one of the sides before putting the other side on. Now I have to take it appart and try it again and I'm afraid it will be less stable if I do that.
