The base of the bin, shelf and cupboard units feature a recessed lip to stack easily and securely without sliding. Stack a bin on the bottom and a cupboard with sliding doors on top. If you'd rather stack two bins, or two shelf units and one cupboard, well, this system is happy to oblige. You can even use the components by themselves to meet your storage needs and fit your available space. The bin, shelf and cupboard combinations, choice of colors, and number of storage units you stack and line up make for limitless possibilities. Even the chalkboard doors on the cabinet are reversible. Chalkboard inside or out - it's your choice.

I bought the open shelf in Vanilla for my daughter's room. It holds all of her books perfectly. All of her books are so well organized in these shelves and are much easier to access compared to the piles we had before. They are so charming looking too... they add the perfect touch to her nursery. It was pretty easy to assemble- the instructions were straight-forward and easy to understand. I like how it included hardware to bolt it to the wall (safe for kids). I put it together by myself in about 30 minutes. We already have a toy box for her, but if we didn't I would definitely get one of the other pieces, because I was so impressed with this one. The finishing and details on the top and bottom of the shelves were really impressive! I would recommend this to anyone that needs extra storage for books- especially children's rooms. The price is very reasonable too!

I ordered the espresso shelving unit and a bin unit for my son's playroom. They are an attractive set, and perfectly match a child's table and chairs that I also purchased here. I had no problems with the bin unit -- it came with all the pieces and it was easy to assemble. The shelving unit was another matter. The manufacturer did not include the back panel in the box, which of course required time-consuming back and forth with Hayneedle for a refund. I thought about getting a replacement, but was so annoyed with the fabrication problems (which I've experienced with two other furniture pieces I've ordered here) that I decided not to bother. we just put our pieces together and the seem to be very sturdy and durable. I got four vanilla pieces and they do have an odor, but I assume that will go away after a few days. I was disappointed that one piece had two damaged parts and one part was missing.

I bought two stackable bin units for toys and one bench unit with canvas storage for book storage, all in vanilla color for my kids new playroom and it looks great. As a stay at home mom, I was able to build the units myself fairly easily with one infant and a 2 year old toddler trying to help. The products came in perfect condition, no damaged or missing parts. There was a manufacturing odor to the wood but I let it air out in the garage for two days. The items shipped fast as well. I would highly recommend this product for ease of install, functionality and great look for the price.

I originally purchased the bookshelf in vanilla for my daughter's nursery, and I loved it so much I purchased the bins and then the cabinet for her play area in the living room. I've already reviewed the bookshelf, so this review will be for the bins and cabinet only.
The bins (vanilla) are perfect to store and organize toys and books of all shapes and sizes. We keep it in our living room for our toddler daughter's toys. I love that it stays open and accessible, and no doors, so there's no risk of little pinched fingers and it's easy for her to help clean-up. Assembly was pretty easy. I was able to put it together myself (I'm not terribly handy) within an hour. There is a slight paint/chemical scent to the bins when you first take out of the package, but it was gone within 24 hours after assembly. You just might want to keep out of child's bedroom until the smell is gone. These bins looked great on their own, but we like them paired with the cabinet even more.
When I went to purchase the vanilla cabinet, I couldn't find in the description how high the shelf is installed inside. I went ahead and purchased it anyways, and I was pleased to see that there are three options for how you would like to install the shelf (high, halfway, or lower). Very versatile for the years to come. I also like how the blackboard is reversible in case you would prefer the blackboard to hide on the inside. We stacked this on top of the bins, and they look great together. Our almost 2 year old daughter can open and close the cabinet easily, but she can't reach the shelf in the highest setting. It fits nice and securely on top of the bins, even without the attachment kit.
I love this set of toy storage. The prices are great. Shipping is always unbelievably fast. Corners are rounded. Each piece comes with an anti-tipping kit, which is imperative for the safety of young children although the furniture itself is very well made and secure.
I've been so happy with the 3 pieces I've purchased. The possibilities are endless with the secure stacking and all the different options. I definitely plan to purchase more in the future!

I got the 4 cube storage in vanilla and it was exactly what I wanted for my little girls room to serve as a bookcase. I know down the road, I'm going to want to get the toy bin to stack below. The color is a creamy white and once the smell evaporates out of the room, it's going to work out well. The one thing I would change on this is to get some creamy inserts to cover up the big silver screws on the inside. I don't like that those are so blaring next to the creamy color of the unit.
