The chest looks nice, but it was a bit complicated to construct, and because not all of the connecting screws locked, it is on the flimsy side. My guess is that the most solidly constructed chests come preassembled, but then you have to pay a lot more too. If you are just looking for something to store blankets or winter clothes, this chest is fine. If you are looking for something more solid, you may want to shell out more for an authentic cedar chest...

We bought this to use as a toy chest that is being kept in our family room so we wanted a nice looking piece of furniture. It can also be passed down to our grandson when we are done using it here. My husband put it together easily by himself.

Good thing it was securely package; the box was damaged by FedEx upon arrival. It looked like the delivery guy dragged it thru the snow to get it to our door. However the pieces were in perfect condition when we unwrapped it.

It is a beautiful chest, but my husband had to add brackets to secure the sideboards, otherwise it wouldn't fit tight - but otherwise, it is great.

Assembly is very easy. Ordered the cedar model and it comes with a tongue in groove slat bottom that is easy to install. I'm a big guy and use it every morning to sit on and tie my shoes and it's very solid. The mixture of the stain, oil finish and cedar can be strong at first when the lid is closed, but we left it open for a while and it was much better. Other than that it's great. The color is very deep and rich. We're very happy with it.

needed a toy box for my daughter's toys. was going to buy something cheaper but am very happy that I spent the extra money on this toy chest. It looks great in my living room and is made really really well. I think it will last for many years to come.
