The slatted curved top gives the Personalized Handcrafted Captain's Chest a distinctive look. Made in America by hand from solid knotty pine to last a lifetime and beyond. It comes assembled with an approved safety lid support that prevents it from ever falling. Available unfinished or your choice of neutral and colorful painted finishes. Unfinished cannot be personalized because the lettering will not adhere for long-lasting personalization. Your personalization will be placed on the front panel (see alternate images), the font size is 1.5 inches with an 11-character limit in a Cooper font.

All finishes are water-based, low-VOC made by Sherwin Williams and other American manufacturers. Wood raw materials come from environmentally responsible suppliers. MDF used is manufactured by Plum Creek, and is certified green, CARB-compliant, and low-formaldehyde. All packing insulation is 100% post-consumer recycled. All shipping cartons are either 100% post-consumer recycled or are made of recycled cardboard.

We purchased this toy box as a gift for our first son. It is well made and very attractive. I really like the newly varnished scent which is an added bonus. I was not able to find information online before I ordered regarding how the customization was done. I wanted to know if it was painted or etched into the wood. It is paint which lays on top of the varnish and not etched into the wood.

We ordered this for our grandson's first birthday in Dec. 2009. We wanted something that he would use and enjoy and might even pass it on to his children! This toy box is so beautiful and nicer than we even expected! Beautiful workmanship and design. We are so happy with it and we know he will love it too!
