This globe also features audio files that can be downloaded using the Smart Pen. Downloads are available in nine different languages, including three versions of English.
This globe measures 9.6 inches in diameter with the pewter-colored, gyromatic full meridian. Colorful countries stand out against the vibrant blue oceans. It depicts national borders as well as individual U.S. states, and utilizes a scale of 790 miles per inch. The black base features easy-to-follow controls for playing educational games.

The product was ready use out of the box - came with batteries pre-installed as well as an A/C power adaptor; came with software, USB cable, and good directions for installing software, registering product, downloading updates, also came with 2 years of free updates. The directions and instructions for using the product were not very good at all. There should have been examples and explanations of the the learning activities and game use - especially for games up to four players. It is a true trial and error discovery process to figure out how to use the product and play the games. A little direction would have enabled and allowed us to focus on activities and games of interest versus discovering them half-hazardly. Outside of that the product and it capabilities seem to be above average to exceptional. Downloading the updates is slower than expected or anticipated and some the "facts" are incorrect or at least debatable. However, it is truly a very unique, high quality product that is capable of being an on-going learning tool and game due to its progressive age and learning capabilities as well as ability to update the product to reflect ever changing world events, news, and facts. I hope that the product will continue to prove itself and pass the test of time.

The smart globe is great for kids to learn more about their world. My son really enjoys it. He's too young though to see that much of the information on the globe is out dated. I was very disappointed in that. I downloaded what I thought would be current events to the pen/stylist but no new events were ever heard. I had great hopes of learning much with my son and I'm sure we will learn some things but I'll have to check to make sure it's the right information before my son speaks it as truth.

Wonderfully interactive toy that I purchased for my 8 year old. She loves the fact that everything is at her fingertips from, weather, to hearing songs, etc. The only reason that I didn't rate a 5 is that when trying to find a locale, it doesn't give any hints as to where it is, after time is up. Would be helpful to have a learning lesson on what was missed or not found on globe.

We are homeschooling our granddaughter and wanted to have a resource that would supplement the other geography resources we are using. The Oregon Scientific Interactive Smart Globe has exceeded our expectations. I would love to know how they make these globes - they are unbelievably smooth and the interactive pen is so easy to use a three year-old can do it. I know this because that's what our granddaughter is. She loves to use it but knows that it is not a toy.

I did not set it up as they are gifts for my grandchildren. However, I did take a look at one and they seem to be an awesome product. I have spoken to one person who purchased one as a gift for Christmas and the recipent loves it.
