Sandbox
Sand, Toys
Self-preserving, maintenance-free and extra protective of your child are just a few of the key attributes of the EasyStart Covered Wooden Sandbox. Beautifully crafted of quality Honduran pine, this sandbox has smooth surfaces and is coated in a weather-resistant Duro-Sur stain. Its heavy weight is an excellent indicator of its superior quality to similar products. What makes this sandbox truly unique is the canopy that serves both as a lid to keep rain and animals out of the sandbox when it's not in use, and as a shade to protect your child from the sun's harmful rays while he or she plays. When no one is using the sandbox, the canopy should be in the lowered position. When it's time to play, you simply use the wood crank to raise the canopy, and then lock it safely in place with the safety bolt. Your child is sure to enjoy this sandbox for many summers.

Wood sandboxes with a clear or stained finish should be re-treated every year or two to retain their smooth, protected exterior. We recommend a water-based finish, which is less toxic than an oil-based finish. Re-treating your wood sandbox will keep it smooth and conditioned. You can find wood finishes and sealers at your local hardware store.

Luckily, I am very good with tools! This sandbox was a gift (which initially we were happy to receive). I am in the middle of building it and was so upset about the bad quality that stopped to post this review. Do not spend your money on this! I am having to rework all of the pieces because they are incorrect lengths. The wood is splintering and I will have to sand it down before my son gets in to play with it. This set is the equivalent of going to a store and buying wood, which you will need to recut.
I will make this work, but it will take much longer now due to all these changes that I will have to make.

Very cheaply made, wobbly and the tarp fades to white in a matter of weeks if it is placed in a sunny part of your yard. I even had allsandboxes.com send me a replacement tarp and that one faded just as quickly. I would spend a bit more and get a higher quality sandbox with a sunbrella fabric cover.

We received this for review on my blog after much research looking for something that would protect our kids from the sun that would fit them both. Took us 20 minutes to put it together and then the kids were playing in it.
Our two kids aged 3 and 17 months love to play in this together and there is more then enough room for them both to play without fighting.
Putting together was simple, construction is sturdy and I see this lasting us a long time.

Q1: What is the bottom of the sandbox made of?
A: There is no bottom to the sandbox. To prevent water build up it is left empty so that it will drain.
